Bike Tours FAQ
A bicycle is the perfect vehicle to get you quickly and comfortably to the iconic attractions in the city. For those who are worried about wind or hills, we offer ebikes.
You’ll see places bypassed by tour busses and the groups are small. On a bicycle you have time to absorb all the details along the way, because they’re not whizzing by. You do not smell diesel fumes, the windows are always clean and the air-conditioning always works 🙂
George is the the lead guide in 2024. He’s been with Reykjavik Bike Tours for 8 seasons. We call on other guides when necessary. We’ll tell you uncensored stories only locals can tell.
All our tours are conducted in English unless specifically requested. Language options depend on availability.
All tours depart from and return to our shop at end of Hlesgata street in Reykjavik.
Yes! A bit of rain or snow does not stop us from going. We are ready if you are.
Our guests tell us that Classic Reykjavik is easy as it is quite flat, but Coast of Reykjavik is a little harder because it covers more ground. There are some small hills but strong wind from the wrong direction can make the ride a bit harder.
For those who need a bit of assistance we offer E-Bike option.
You are. For your personal safety we lend you a helmet FREE of charge. We recommend the use of a helmet during all our tours. Persons 15 years and younger are required by law in Iceland to wear a helmet.
While tipping is not mandatory, it’s always appreciated by our guides if you feel they provided exceptional service. Tips help motivate our guides to continue delivering high-quality experiences for all our guests.

Yes, children and infants are most welcome!
A private bike tour is the best option for families with children. We have several bike sizes for children, connecting bikes and bicycle trailers.
All our bicycle tours are private tours and there is no minimum age. We have bicycle seats, bicycle trailers and connecting bikes as well as children’s bikes.
Please make sure to arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled tour time. This will give you enough time to meet you Guide and get fitted for your bike and helmet.

Our bikes are designed to accommodate a wide range of riders, but for comfort and safety, we do have weight limits. For standard bikes, the limit is typically around 125 kg (275 lbs), and for e-bikes, the limit is around 110 kg (242 lbs). Please contact us if you have specific questions regarding weight limits.
Absolutely! We offer flexible bike tours for cruise ship passengers who want to explore Reykjavik. If you’re arriving on a cruise, please contact us in advance with your docking time, and we’ll ensure we can accommodate you.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, and a jacket or layers (especially in Iceland’s variable weather). You might also want to bring sunscreen, a bottle of water, and a charged phone to capture the stunning scenery!
Some of our longer tours include a stop for a snack or light meal. On shorter tours, we provide water and a light snack. Please let us know if you have dietary restrictions or special preferences, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Yes, we plan for regular stops during the tour, including bathroom breaks at convenient locations. If you need a break at any point, feel free to let your guide know, and they will make sure to find a suitable spot.
Absolutely! We encourage you to take photos along the way to capture the beautiful scenery. Your guide will also point out the best photo opportunities, and if you’d like, we can stop at certain locations for group or scenic photos.
